Kalkaji Mandir:
A Hindu mandir or temple, Kalkaji Mandir or Kalkaji Temple, is devoted to the Hindu goddess Kali. The temple is located in Kalkaji, India, a neighbourhood that takes its name from the temple, in the southern part of New Delhi.Kalka Temple is next to the Nehru Place commercial district and adjacent to the Okhla railway station and Kalkaji Mandir metro station. Hindus consider this representation of the Goddess Kalka to be a self-manifestation.
Kalkaji Mandir History:
Marathas later refurbished the temple. The oldest parts of the current structure are supposed to have been built by the Marathas no earlier than 1764 AD, with extensions made in 1816 by Mirza Raja Kidar Nath, the Peshkar of Akbar II, even though the temple is thought to be considerably older. Hindu bankers and merchants from Delhi built a sizable number of Dharamshalas surrounding the temple in the second part of the 20th century. The Shamlat Thok Brahmins and Thok Jogians, who serve as the temple’s pujaris and conduct Puja Sewa, own the property on which the temple itself was constructed. Four Thullas, namely Thulla Tansukh, Thulla Rambaksh, Thulla Bahadur, and Thulla Jasram, make up the Thok Brahmins.
Legend of Kalkaji Mandir:
Hindu mythology claims that Kalika Devi was born on the land where the temple now stands. The gods who lived nearby the current temple millions of years ago were troubled by two giants and were forced to take their complaint to Lord Brahma, known as “the deity of all,” as a result. However, Lord Brahma chose not to become involved and directed them to the Goddess Parvati. The two giants were assaulted and killed by Kaushki Devi, who appeared from Maa Parvati’s mouth. However, when their blood rained on the parched land, thousands more giants came to life, making it difficult for Kaushki Devi to continue the fight. Out of Kaushki Devi’s eyebrows, Maa Kali Devi emerged, whose upper lip touched the heavens above and whose lower lip rested on the hills below. Maa Parvati had compassion for her offspring. The goddess achieved a complete victory over their adversaries when she devoured the giants’ blood as it gushed out of their wounds. Then, Maa Kali Devi made this site her home and was revered as the main deity of the region.
According to legend, the Goddess Kalkaji came to the temple site, congratulated the gods for their prayers and rites, and then settled there after being delighted with what Lord Brahma had instructed them to do. During Yudhisthira’s rule, it is said that Lord Krishna and the Pandavas worshipped Kali at this temple in the Mahabharata. The temple itself is thought to have been built at Kali’s command by Thok Brahmins and Thok Jogians. It is also known as Manokamna Siddha Peetha or Jayanti Peetha. Manokamna is the Sanskrit word for longing, Siddha is the word for completion, and Peetha is the word for shrine. Therefore, it is considered to be the sacred temple where one receives Maa Kalika Devi’s blessings for the accomplishment of one’s aspirations.
This undeniable strength derives from the mother’s memory, meditation, adoration, kirtan, jagran, and yuga, and the mother has been granting the wishes of her followers since the Yuga. Thousands of devotees make offerings of flowers, garlands, coconuts, and sardines to Maa Shri Kalka JI each day in an effort to have their wishes granted. In this temple, there is no prejudice or discrimination based on high caste. Here, devotees of all castes come to worship the mother Shri Kalka ji in order to have their wishes granted. These devotees are given devotion to the devotees and are given the Tilak, and everyone of the mother’s followers are treated equally.

The timings of kalkaji mandir is 4:00 am – 11:30 am, 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm, 4:00 pm – 11:30 pm
The temple is still closed from 11.30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day.

Kalkaji Mandir Mundan Charges:
Mundan (Bal Utarna) rituals are also carried out at Shri Kalkaji Mandir. Gender-based discrimination is not practised here, and both boys’ and girls’ hair can be cut. The ritual can be completed at any time between six in the morning and ten at night.
How to reach Kalkaji Mandir:
By Air: The only airport in the area is the Indira Gandhi Airport in New Delhi, which is about 15 kilometres from the Kalkaji Temple.
By Rail: The temple is 4 km from H Nizamuddin Railway Station. The temple is therefore the one closest to this temple.
By Road: Bus services provide excellent access to the city. Buses owned by Delhi Transportation Corporation go across the city. Additionally, buses offer connectivity to the entire nation via a number of National highways. You can get off the bus at either the Kalkaji Mandir Metro Station in Delhi or Rajiv Chowk.
