Kudroli Temple:

The Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Kshetra, also known as the Gokarnanatheshwara Temple, is located in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. Invocation was performed by Narayana Guru. Kudroli Temple is devoted to Lord Shiva’s manifestation Gokarnanatha. In 1912, Adhyaksha HoigeBazar Koragappa erected this temple.

The Billava community has now adopted this temple as “Aadi”.The distance between the temple and the city’s centre is 2 kilometres. The Gopuram, a tower-like structure at the temple, is adorned with murals of many gods and goddesses.

Kudroli Temple History: The Billava tribe desired to establish a distinctive identity in the spiritual world. They desired the ability to customise the spiritual offering made to their deity Lord Shiva according to the billava tradition. Adhyaksha Koragappa, a billava leader and merchant, decided to seek a Guru for this spiritual search in such a situation.

In 1908, Adhyaksha Koragappa led a group of Billava elders to Shri Narayana Guru. He requested that Shri Narayana Guru lead the billavas in the construction of a temple.In Narayana Guru, the community discovered a messiah who would lead them on their spiritual journey. In order to assist the billavas in constructing a temple for their god, Lord Shiva, Narayana Guru—who is from the region of southern India closest to Mangalore—became their ideal teacher and guru due to his knowledge and experience in spirituality.

Festivals at Kudroli Gokarnanath Temple:

The Kudroli Gokarnanath Temple celebrates a number of holidays. With customary merriment and splendour, Maha Shivaratri, Krishnashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Nagara Panchami, Deepavali, Navaratri, and Sri Narayana Jayanthi are all celebrated. People from all over the world come to adore it. There are temple branches at Katpady, Udupi, and Mulki.

There is a formal celebration of Sri Narayana Guru’s birthday. The Kshethra continues the custom of feeding the everyday visitors who come to worship there.

Community other customs include the performance of the Sri Satyanarayana Pooja and the Sri Shani Pooja, free mass weddings, and the awarding of scholarships to outstanding students. Today, followers of the Kshethra come from various communities and religions. The Billava people have reached adulthood. The Kshethra, which represents unity amid diversity, can be correctly referred to as the religious melting pot.

Via Air

The closest airport is located in Mangalore, 12 kilometres away. From the airport, it could take 25 to 30 minutes by car.

Via train

The distance to the closest railway station, in Mangalore, is 2.7 kilometres. The bus ride to the temple takes 10 to 15 minutes.

Via Road

The distance between the bus terminal and the temple is 3.4 km. The bus ride to the temple takes 10 to 15 minutes.
